Mrs. Loewen's Class

In April 3-5AL learned a lot about the Titanic. We read the Gordon Korman book Titanic: Unsinkable as a class and researched many facts about the famous shipwreck. On April 14th, the anniversary for the ship striking the iceberg, we had Titanic Day in our class. Students were invited to come in their best dress and we shared a Titanic Tea based on the real tea menu from the ship. We listened to music that was played by the band on board and drank tea in real china teacups. We also participated in an iceberg demonstration, had an aluminum foil boat building challenge (the strongest boat held 54 pennies!) and spent the rest of the day building Titanic models from recycling. It was a memorable day!

We are learning about money in math! We set up a little store in our classroom to put our knowledge of money into practice. We all brought items from to buy and sell. Playing shopping with the whole class was so much fun!
We are researching animals in Science. We are using our research animals in science. We are using our research findings to write non-fiction books on animals!
