Mrs. Kroeker's class

We spent January exploring all things winter in order to answer the question "How do living things survive and thrive in the winter?"  We explored the things we love to do in the winter (both inside and outside).  We love drinking hot chocolate, playing Lego, cuddling, and watching movies but we also skating, building snowmen, digging, making forts, having snowball fights and looking at the beautiful snowflakes and hoarfrost.  Next we learned about how animals survive in the winter: by either migrating, hibernating, or adapting to the conditions.  We realized that some people also like to migrate...or hibernate!  Finally we learned that some plants also hibernate (losing their leaves and not making food during the winter) and others adapt by having needles.

We are learning about our community and some of the service workers that help us stay safe and healthy.
